Build Executive Function, Confidence, and Clarity for School and Life

Our Cognitive Coaching program is a mediated learning experience.

The cognitive coach helps modify the learner’s brain and to take ownership over their learning and actions.

They become the advocates of their own education and take charge of their cognitive development.

Cognitive Coaching is a personalized, one-on-one program designed for anyone who needs support in their cognitive skills. It’s not just about grades. It’s about helping students:

  • Set meaningful goals

  • Stay focused and organized

  • Manage time and stress

  • Build confidence and resilience

This approach focuses on executive function skills (the mental tools students need to plan, prioritize, and follow through in both academics and daily life).

At Joy in Learning, we use something called Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment (FIE).

It’s a hands-on method that helps students become more aware of how they think, so they can learn more effectively and confidently.

Instead of focusing only on school subjects, FIE builds core thinking skills through guided activities. These include:

  • Problem-solving

  • Flexible thinking

  • Self-control

  • Planning and organization

The goal isn’t just to offer support. It’s to help students strengthen the mental tools they need to take charge of their learning and grow into confident, independent thinkers.

What is it? How does it work?

  • Weekly sessions, 2x a week, with cognitive coach for one hour each.

  • Typically 20-30 sessions (2-3 months) will suffice to experience long-lasting benefits

  • Planning, reflection, and practical applications built into every session

  • Tools and strategies for real-life challenges including studying, procrastination, and confidence

  • Sessions can be held in-person and online.

Who is it for?

  • Anyone from 4th grade to college-aged

  • Students who are smart but struggle with follow-through, time management, motivation, or ADHD

  • Parents looking for help that targets the root of brain function

Being smart isn’t the problem...

it’s having the right tools and the optimal thinking skills.

Let’s talk about whether cognitive coaching is right for your student.
